Focus of research:

As an assistant professor at the department of Psychiatry, myresearch focuses on biological and cognitive aspects of vulnerability for trauma-related psychopathology. For this research I received a Veni grant from the Netherlands organization for Health Reserach and Development, and a Narsad Young Investigator Grant from the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation.

Prior, during my postdoc here at the AMC, I coordinated several multidisciplinary studies on the behavioural, neuroendocrine and physiological effects of intranasal oxytocin administration. These studies included a RCT and neuroimaging study in which weinvestigated whether oxytocin administration prevents development of PTSD in recently traumatized individuals and an fMRI study in which we investigated the acute effects of oxytocin administration on fear and reward processing in police personnel with and without PTSD.
