The AMC researchers in this field are at the forefront of investigating the health and well-being of both the general and the working population, the quality and effectiveness of the organization of healthcare, the course of chronic physical and mental health problems in patients, and the results of interventions. In so doing, they address both normative and epidemiological aspects. Their aim is to disseminate this knowledge amongst government bodies, caregivers and patients.
In order to study the health of and the use of healthcare by different ethnic groups, a multi-ethnic cohort coupled to a biobank has been established: HELIUS (Healthy Life in an Urban Setting).
Within each research theme, AMC Principal Investigators and their co-workers are collaborating in clusters or centers. In the case of Public Health and Epidemiology, this is realized in the Public, Occupational and Epidemiological Health Issues in Medicine Network (POEHIM).
Principal Investigators in the field of Epidemiology and Public Health can be found under the heading of Who is Who in Research.
