About the CFM

The Core Facility Metabolomics (CFM) is an integral part of the Laboratory Genetic Metabolic Diseases (GMZ). The CFM is located at the Amsterdam UMC, location AMC on the ground floor of the F-tower (F0). The CFM has state-of the-art mass spectrometry equipment, professional bioinformatics tools and expert knowledge in metabolism. This includes the accurate annotation of metabolites, advanced statistical analysis and pathway analysis. The CFM is mainly focused on the measurements of (semi-targeted and untargeted) metabolomics, fluxomics and lipidomics.

User Council meetings:
Every four months the CFM organizes a user council meeting to discuss how the facility performs, how it can be improved with a lookout for innovations in the field of metabolomics, lipidomics and fluxomics.

Awarded grants

  • NWO middelgroot (March 2018), “Next generation ion mobility mass spectrometry for the study of metabolism” for the acquisition of a Bruker Trapped Ion Mobility Spectrometry (TIMS) – Time Of Flight (TOF) or TimsTOF in short.
  • Velux Stiftung (November 2016), “Improving metabolism to promote healthy aging” for the funding of a Bruker Impact II QTOF mass spectrometer.
