Goal:

Participants will learn how to search for references and cited references in the literature database Web of Science. The concept and application of citation analysis like the calculation of the Hirsch-index (H-index) will be explained.

Journal Citation Reports is a database containing bibliometric data on jounals. Participants will learn how to use JCR for looking up a journal's impact factor and determine the most eligible journal to publish a manuscript.

Format:

The course runs four times a year. The course takes 2 to 2.5 hours.

Content:

This seminar covers exercises on finding cited and citing references, calculating a Hirsch-index and searching for and interpreting journal impact factors.

    AMC PhD candidates.

    Certificate:

    A participation certificate is issued. Attendance is registered.

    Study load:

    2.5 hours, which is comparable to 0.1 ECTS points.

    Number of participants:

    Maximum 8 per course.

    No charge for registered AMC PhD candidates.
