Information about the course Medical Literature: Embase/Medline via Ovid.

Goal:
Get familiar with the Ovid search interface and start searching Embase and Medline using EMTREE and MeSH indexing respectively during a 2,5 hours' hands-on session. A good working knowledge of PubMed is prerequisite and can be obtained by the AMC e-learning in Dutch or the PubMed tutorial in English.
Matches perfectly as a follow up on the Searching for a Systematic Review course. Also recommended: PsycInfo via Ovid for elaborate searching literature in behavioral science and mental health.
Format:
The course runs three times a year. The course takes 2 to 2.5 hours.
Content:
As preparation you need to follow two e-learning modules and make an assignment. This will take on average 1-2 hours, depending on searching skills and knowledge of PubMed. During the course you have the opportunity to practice and fine-tune your own query/PICO.

Compulsary experience:
- (Dutch speaking students): PubMed (e-learning course) (2,5-3 hrs).
- (English speaking students): PubMed tutorial.

Target Audience:
AMC PhD candidates.
Certificate:
A participation certificate is issued. Attendance is registered.
Study load:
2.5 hours, which is comparable to 0.1 ECTS points.
Number of participants:
Maximum 8 per course.
Costs:
No charge for registered AMC PhD candidates.
