BMEP: Light-tissue interaction

Successful clinical application of optical methods such as Optical Coherence Tomography and Reflectance Spectroscopy requires thorough understanding of the fundamental physics underlying light tissue interaction. A number of these questions can be studied using computer simulations such as Monte Carlo methods or with straight-forward, well-designed experiments. The results are than used to refine or revisit our existing mathematical models for our measured signals. Note that most bachelor projects can be extended to master thesis projects.
