Curriculum Vitae

Evelien van Valen earned a masters degree in neuropsychology in 2003 at the University of Maastricht. Focus of her masters degree was the neuropsychological diagnosis and course of dementia. From 2003-2004 she worked as a research coordinator at the department of Neuropsychology and Psychiatry at the University Hospital of Maastricht.

In 2004 she started in her current position as a neuropsychologist of the Solvent Team Amsterdam at AMC, specializing in the neuropsychological diagnosis and course of chronic solvent induced encephalopathy (CSE). In 2005 she wrote a research proposal for a PhD project on the diagnosis and course of CSE patients. The data collection of the project is now almost complete. So far, she has published a systematic review about the course of CSE, a European consensus document for the neuropsychological diagnosis of CSE patients and a case study.

Besides the research work, Evelien earned her registration as a BIG-registered health psychologist (gezondheidszorg psycholoog) during three years of clinical work at the Medical Psychology department of AMC. She is a teacher of neuropsychology at the post master education for psychologists at the RINO Utrecht and RINO Amsterdam.

Together with prof dr Claudi Bockting she published a self help book "Tussen dip en droom" based on cognitive behavioral therapy for the prevention of relapse of depression ISBN 9789000328857.

Evelien is a member of the Scientific Committee on Neurotoxicology and Psychophysiology of the ICOH.
