Curriculum Vitae

Mustafa is a PhD student in the Medical Imaging Group at the Biomedical Engineering and Physics department with a focus on Aortic CTA Image Analysis. His research is to develop Medical Image Processing technqiues to facilitate and automate the analysis of the aorta CTA images for better Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) planning.
Besides, he is interested in developing algorithms and techniques for Image Processing , Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision. He joined BMEP department as a research assistant and PhD student since July 2012. Mustafa was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1986. He obtained his B.Sc degree from Biomedical Engineering department at Cairo university. His BSc thesis was titled "Retinal Image Processing Platform with Network Support". After that, he joined Medical Imaging and Image processing lab at Nile University, Egypt, where he obtained his M.Sc. degree, and carried his M.Sc research in Cardiac MRI Segmentation e.g. Cine and SENC MRI. He spent two years after finishing the master studies working for Diagnosoft Inc. as a senior reserach and devleopment engineer conducting some existing and novel algorithms in segmentation of cardiac MRI images for different imaging protocols.
