Focus of research

In my reserach project we aim to compare both clinically referred pathological gamblers and alcohol dependents to non-clinically referred pathological gamblers and alcohol dependents. This will be done by focusing on several relevant mechanisms including reward sensitivity, stress reactivity, attentional bias and cognitive flexibility. Neurocognitive paradigms and neuroimaging techniques (fMRI) will be used to study which brain processes, and which neurocognitive abilities influence the course of addiction.
