PhD Project – Critical appraisal of CT-scan based mapping and navigation in cardio-thoracic surgery.
Focus of research

Technological innovations coupled with advanced knowledge of cardiovascular disorders have enabled the increased use of minimally invasive cardiovascular surgeries and transcatheter interventions, which resulted in reduced morbidity and hospital stay. Computer tomography (CT) is increasingly used for three-dimensional roadmapping of the anatomy, measuring cardiovascular structures and even identifying factors that might complicate procedures. Nonetheless, clinical practice shows us that these developments of CT planning and/or navaigation are left unutilized or are not used to their fullest potential.
