Research programmes

PhD S. Huveneers (Vascular Microenvironment and Integrity)

The group is expertised in vascular cell biology and advanced real-time imaging. Current research lines are aimed at:

  • Investigating vascular integrity in inflammation and cardiovascular disease.
  • Establishing the importance of asymmetric junctions for collective cell behaviour in angiogenesis.
  • Understanding how mechanical forces control endothelial adhesions.
  • Elucidating the role of endothelial Gaq signaling in Sturge-Weber syndrome

To achieve these goals we are determining the physiological importance of endothelial junctional events, such as Pacsin2 and Vinculin recruitment, combining high resolution microscopy of live cell junction dynamics with visualizing endothelial interactions in vivo.
