Focus of research

I am passionate about the human body; especially the musculoskeletal structures have my interest. It is fascinating to discover how well humans are adapted to perform precise actions. With this interest and the drive to contribute meaningfully to society, I became involved in the field of arthroscopy (minimally invasive surgery in orthopaedics). Like all other minimally invasive techniques, a drawback of arthroscopy is that it demands high surgical skills. I have been developing new instruments and traing simulators to improve surgical performance. Now I am member of Academic Center for Evidence-based Sports Medicine https://acesamsterdam.nl/ and my ambition as a biomechanical engineer is to go beyond interventions and include the optimization of diagnostics and rehabilitation by development of innovative technology that act in 'perfect' synergy with te clinician and the patient in their specific user environment.
