The AMC complex houses the university hospital and the faculty of medicine of UvA as well as the Emma Children’s Hospital, the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience, the Spinoza Centre for Neuroimaging and the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development. A number of biotech companies (some of which are AMC spin-offs) are also located on the premises. This concentration of expertise makes the centre a breeding ground for fruitful scientific collaboration.
About the AMC
Over 7000 people work here to provide integrated patient care, fundamental and clinical scientific research, and teaching.
The AMC Research Council advises the Executive Board of AMC on research policy, provides support to researchers wishing to apply for research grants, and facilitates the organization of scientific debate within AMC. Lectures, seminar series and retreats on specific topics are also organized within each theme.
UvA/AMC Research Priority Areas
The University of Amsterdam has chosen to focus on the development of the areas of research in which the UvA is world leading. AMC leads these UvA Research Priority Areas.
Research Support aims to create an environment in which AMC researchers can excel, both by contributing to a stimulating context and by providing practical support.
