Focus of research

 The prothrombinase complex consisting of factor Xa (FXa) and factor Va (FVa) on a phospholipid surface layer converts prothrombin into thrombin. For complex formation, both coagulation factors need to be activated first. We investigate the highly specific tick inhibitor of factor Xa towards factor V (TIX-5) that inhibits the activation of FV by FXa.
