Stimuli Responsive Materials for the Rapid Detection and Treatment of Healthcare Associated Infections. The STIMULUS project focusses on theranostics allowing both therapy and diagnostics of local infections. Smart, triggered release theranostic bandages for infected wounds will be developed. Enzymes or toxins of microbial pathogens will cause controlled release of diagnostic color marker molecules indicating infection, and our novel antimicrobial peptides or immunomodulators to threat the infection.
