Goal:
This course aims to inform (starting) PhD-candidates about gastroenterology, endocrinology and metabolism, including those topics that are not necessarily within the scope of their own research.

Format:
The course runs once a year, for two weeks. The first week is for all participants. This week will give an overview of general insights and methodology applicable to gastroenterology, endocrinology and metabolism. The second week will consist of three parallel courses: (1) gastroenterology, (2) endocrinology and (3) metabolism and will be more in depth.

Scheduled dates:
25 thru 29 January, 2021 (general program), and 1 thru 5 February, 2021 (parallel courses)

Content:
The course covers all aspects of gastroenterology, endocrinology and metabolism with a strong focus on linking clinical issues to basic research.

Target audience:
AGEM PhD-candidates performing clinical, translational and fundamental research. Interested PhD-candidates from other research institutes are also welcome to attend.

Language:
This course is given in English.

Certificate:
To qualify for the credits and the certificate, a participant must attend 100% of the classes and must complete the final assignment. Attendance is registered.

Study load:
40 (8 days x 5h) contact hours and 20 (10 days x 2h) self-study hours, which is comparable to 2,2 ECTS points.

Costs:
No charge for registered Amsterdam UMC (AMC and VUmc) PhD-candidates.
