Goal:
This course aims to inform PhD candidates about major infectious diseases, including those that are not necessarily within the scope of their own research.
Format:
The course runs once a year, on four consecutive days. The one-day sessions consist of lectures given by well-known researchers from the AMC and elsewhere.
Scheduled dates:
Expected December 2021.
Content:
The course covers all aspects of infectious diseases with a strong focus on public health issues, host pathogen interactions, poverty related communicable diseases, and basic research.
Target audience:
AMC PhD candidates. CINIMA PhD candidates are required to attend this course during the first or second year of their PhD project.
VUmc PhD candidates doing research at Amsterdam Infection & Immunity Institute***.
Language:
This course is given in English, unless all participants understand Dutch.
Certificate:
To qualify for the certificate, a participant must attend all lectures. Attendance is registered.
Study load:
36 hours, which is comparable to 1.3 ECTS points.
Number of participants:
Maximum 50 per course.
Costs:
No charge for registered AMC PhD candidates. Employees of the AMC or AMC Medical Research BV can participate provided slots are available. All other participants are charged a fee of 1,250 euro.
*** No charge for VUmc PhD candidates doing research at Amsterdam Infection & Immunity Institute.
