Nuclear cardiology with emphasis on myocardial sympathetic activity
Focus of research

The focus is on the application of nuclear medicine techniques to cardiovascular diseases:

  1. Studying the role of myocardial symphathetic activity in heart failure patients with 123I-MIBG. In this context a European network has been constructed to obtain relevant data.
  2. In collaboration with the group of Prof dr ES Stroes looking at inflamation of the vascular wall and the effects of farmacological interventions with 18F-FDG and labelled leucocytes.
  3. In collaboration with Prof dr JJ Piek studying new tracers for the imaging of neovascularization in patients with chronic coronary artery occlusions.
  4. In collaboration with F Holleman studying brown adipose tissue and ways to selectively stimulate/activate brown adipose tissue.
