Kitty Jager (MD PhD) is a Professor of Medical Informatics & Kidney Epidemiology and Principal Investigator at the AMC/University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
After obtaining a PhD on dialysis adequacy, she has led the department’s kidney epidemiology research group and has been the ERA-EDTA Registry Director for 20 years .
She has served as a member on the:

Her research has concentrated on the prevalence and progression of CKD and the frequency of Kidney Replacement Therapy with focus on international differences and sex differences; and on the relationship of public health aspects and nephrology practice patterns with patient outcomes. She has published more than 340 scientific articles and a high number of book chapters and reports (H-index: Web of Science 50; Google Scholar 72).
Kitty Jager serves on the Editorial Boards of Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation, Nephrology Carlton, KI Reports and the Journal of Renal Nutrition.
Finally, she has organized and lectured in almost 40 international CME courses in epidemiology for nephrologists and hosted 37 visiting nephrology researchers from 20 countries.

Evaluation of Health Care
Within this research theme there is a strong focus on clinical performance indicators and on their use for (inter)national benchmarking and improvement of quality of care. Research subjects include the selection and standardization of clinical performance indicators within nephrology (NephroQUEST project - Public Health Programme EC)
Epidemiology
Here there is a primary focus on the domain of nephrology. Different studies concentrate on factors determining the trends and international differences in the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the incidence of end-stage renal failure (ESRD) and related patient outcomes. This aetiologically oriented research aims to identify the determinants of these trends and differences, for example co-morbidity, residual renal function, treatment, general population mortality, timing of transplantation but also the effects of non-medical (e.g. economic) factors. Other subjects include the comparison of conservative and novel statistical methods.
