Bruker TimsTOF

The Bruker TimsTOF was acquired with a NWO middelgroot grant in 2018 and is able to determine the Collisional Cross Sections (CCS) values of a metabolite which will help us in better separating isomeric and isobaric metabolites. The TimsTOF is now used in research and development projects only.

Bruker Impact II QTOF

The Bruker Impact II QTOF was acquired by a grant of the Velux Stiftung in 2016 and is based on Time-Of-Flight (TOF) technology with a resolution of maximal 50.000 FWHM. The Impact II is used for our “polar” metabolomics platform where we are able to annotate over more than 200 different polar metabolites.

Thermo Scientific Q Exactive plus

The Thermo Scientific Q exactive plus was acquired in 2014 and is based on orbitrap technology with a resolution of maximal 280.000 FWHM. The Q Exactive plus is used for our lipidomics platform where we are able to annotate over more than 2500 distinct lipid species and also report every other feature that is measured (>10.000)

All our mass spectrometers are coupled to Ultra High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (U(H)PLC) machines for separation of the metabolites based on their “polarity”.
