Bachelor of Medical Informatics

The 3-year bachelor programme Medische Informatiekunde focuses on important questions on the intersection of healthcare and ICT and offers an exciting mix of programming, mathematics and medical courses. To understand the challenges that healthcare is facing today, insights from many different disciplines are needed. Students will attend lectures on the anatomy of the human body and on the causes and categorisation of illnesses. They will also gain insight into how doctors use reasoning and learn to use equipment, information systems, and methods for analysing and presenting medical data. Financial, ethical, legal, business and economic aspects of healthcare are also considered.

The bachelor Medische Informatiekunde at the University of Amsterdam is unique within the Netherlands and stands out from other informatics study programs by situating itself within a medical context. The programme holds the prestigious accreditation of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and of the Dutch Flemish Accreditation Organ (NVAO).
